A coping strategy I have found to be very effective at dealing with the mental and physical pain and turmoil is to focus on the details outside of the body and outside of my own head.
I look at photography as a way of recording and nurturing. Recording what has been around me all along, and nurturing my mind and my connection to the beauty that exists in plain sight. My muse of choice is anything that sparks a hint of interest. From brickwork to plant pots. Running with my camera to hand is as important to me now as running with a water bottle. In fact, I’ve been known to run longer without water than taking photos. Whilst this method isn’t conducive to establishing fast times for league tables, it will essentially outlive any record, because it is felt in a place where numbers don’t matter.
This is a snapshot of my mindful adventures.
